I have used 4x4 on wet roads. I stopped on a hill and every time I would tap the gas I would spin. So I stopped and put it in high and went right up the hill. As soon as I got to the top back to 2wd. It was a heavy heavy rain there was sheets of water flying down the hill.

I can empathise, 8 months (or more!) without rain was a common occurance in Phoenix when I lived there, and that first rain picked up all the asphalt oil and other residue and turned what looked like dry streets all summer into a greasy wet mess.
My truck, which in normal driving wouldnt burn anything except gas, turned into smokey entertainment. Combine this with a half million or so other frustrated smoke jockeys, and you have a demo derby without the stands. I learned not to hit the brakes heavily as well.
I can only imagine what tractionless insanity adding a more horsepower and having twice the torque would cause.
In heavy surface water you could probably run 4 hi, just be careful cornering.

Why, is that strange? Typical southern CA weather.

check this out...if we get even a half inch of snow...the troopers put out an advisory saying that emergency situations only on the highway. all accidents are...at your own risk. insurance companies dont have to pay out if your wreck your ride.

That's f-d up man. If we get 12 inches of snow or more up here I still can't be late for work
and I can't miss my college class.

Trust me, Rick. It's a high HP thing. Our modified 6.0 PS will torch tires on entry ramps to the highway with a loaded down 27 foot trailer on the back. It's kinda freaky when you are doing nothing more than just getting on it to get to speed. (Wet Pavement)

The old 94 460 V8 is the same way, only worse. It will break the A/T's loose on dry pavement just on easy throttle runs.

I would never use 4wd on wet roads. I only use it on ice/snow roads, or off-road. Your tires aren't going to slip enough on wet roads, and your going to have a lot of binding up till you break something. To me, it sounds like you need better tires more then anything.
