welcome to DF.
you probably already know this, but the safest way to troubleshoot 4wd problems is to put the truck up on 4 jack stands. then you can shift away, running or not, and rotate the driveline as needed.

you do have the same gear ratio in the front and back don't you ? if you're not sure, test it to be sure.

Ok so I know I wasn't in nuetral cause when I tried it stationary I got minimal tire movement when giving it a good amount of gas(unless that's somehow in nuetral). So if it is the transfer case how can I check that and how do I check if the front rear axle ratios are the same??

you forgot to mention not to pause in neutral when you shift to 4lo, unless you like the sound of gear clash.

i just let off the gas when i shift to 4hi, then i give the shifter a wiggle to make sure its all the way back and keep on going.

I was first thinking the t-case wasn't engaging but now it sure does sound like that new rearend is a different gear.

Did you say you can shift into 4lo while moving 15mph? I have always came to about 1mph-2mph slipped it in Neutral and then put it in 4lo. I thought you must be going slow and in Neutral??

Nope. Read Sheriff's last post. If you stop in neutral the gears will freespin and then grind when you do shift into gear. You should never pause in neutral unless that is where you want it to be.

Naw i was talking about the tranny(putting that in neutral.) Then going from 4hi directly to 4lo. I can do that while moving?? I can see doing it 1-2mph but any fast im worried i would blow something up.

You can shift the transfer case directly into/out of 4 high at any speed below 55mph. You don't need to shift the tranny into neutral. That's what shift-on-the-fly means.
