my electrical problem consisted of having no reverse lights, no brake lights, no blinkers. had running tail lights and third brake lights working. and before i switched the flasher when it blinked the reverse lights would flash.

turned out to be just a ground.

 

Thanks, I wouldn't be very comfortable relying on an 03 manual for 96 electrical info.
