Power Loss?
So it seems that my truck has been dying on it's own. I'd start it and then it'd die but if I started it and gave it gas immediately it'd continue to run fine but as soon as I let off of the gas it'd sometimes die. It doesn't always do this but has been in the past week or so. Today I got off work and hopped in and started it and it began doing this again and I went to start it again to give it gas and had absolutely no power to anything. I popped my hood to check my cables to battery and dist. cap/wires and when I popped the hood and went to check my light under the hood turned on and I had power back.. I'm not sure how to diagnose this or what to check for.
As always you guys are my first stop and have been successful at helping me fix every problem so far. Thanks in advance for the great feedback.

The only thing about that is I changed my plugs/wires barely over a year ago and my battery was replaced sometime in Jan-Feb of this year..
Check out my repsonse to this thread. Sounds simular.

it sounds like your alternator is dying. take it to advance or oreilleys and get the battery and alternator tested. that or a bad connection to the battery or one of the battery cables (on the block/battery/PDC)
a bad alternator can fry a good battery and a bad battery can fry a good alternator.
when you don't have enough power then the fuel pump cannot push enough fuel, so revving an engine with a dying alternator will sometimes give it enough juice to keep the fuel pump running.

+1 on Alt. test. Also check and double check the battery connections, especially the cable ends hooking to the battery. Our trucks are notorious for bad battery terminals. I have owned 4 2nd Gens, every single one I have had to at one point or another I have had to replace either the terminals or cables or both.
the oem band style terminals are junk. you're better off with the 3$ painted lead replacements. both of mine broke and one of the two was stretched out before it finally let go.

also take the battery to get tested, on the lot, weve had vehicles come in with 6 month old batteries, and they would drain over night, so we took it up to the store where we got it, and they tested it, sure enough it was defective, theres no other way to test for a dead cell other than a load test.
you could also check into the IAC as well
