Next time I lose power and have no lights, I'll be sure to check the air cleaner! LOL

It happened again today when I was leaving work and all power is lost and then I pop the hood.. and next thing I know the light underneath the hood comes back on and power is restored.. weird. I'll have to check your guys suggestions starting with the battery/alternator testing.

that's the first place i'd check. also, don't we have an alternator relay and fuse? it wouldn't hurt to pull them out and re-seat them, they might have corrosion on them that is creating a poor contact.

All the ground wires need to be checked first. If the battery or alternator was bad it would just be dead and /or barely start. Not just come back full power. Seems like popping the hood is enough of a jolt to help the bad connection. Check the ground wires running along side the manifold that connect to the PS pump bracket.

Alright will do. As far as the connection to the battery itself, that was the first thing I check when the power completely cut off on my yesterday for the first time and there are no signs of corrosion and the connections were tight.

You still took them off and cleaned them right? You don't have to see corrosion for there to be a bad contact. And make sure the posts themselves don't move or twist.
