Ignition Wire problem and Tune-Up Questions
The MSD coil (8228) that looks just like stock coil is actually the exact same coil as an accel coil, just different plastic color scheme. The manufacturer part numbers are the exact same.
As mentioned, coils wither work or they don't, and unless you're running an aftermarket ignition box like an MSD 6A, there's really no benefit of running a beefier coil.
I don't think there's a spark plug on the market that actually adds horsepower. There are some that run smoother than others, but it's trial and error on each individual truck. I've had good luck with NGK V-power plugs, and Champion Truck plugs, not so much with the Autolite 3923's that some others like.
