Default Cleaned Throttle body

Thanks for the great forum. I am new and have this problem with my 98 318/5.2 After removing and cleaning the throttle body and all the componets(including) the MAP sensor. Sprayed all the electric componets with contact cleaner and re-installed..the truck still "flutters" at hwy speeds/normal driving. Its like its just not under full power.Once in awhile it still 'coughs" and backfires.. I had it in yesterday and the mechanic said "no codes showing" so I just dont know what to do next. Anymore Ideas????

it may not necessarly be a pool of oil, but it could be just an oily residue all around the inside of the intake. its hard to see at first, so look at it hard and get a bright flashlight. Tell me this, has your truck's computer been reprogrammed with the likes of a hypertech, superchips, or reflashed by the dealer?

Did not look down in the plenum. Probably should have. What would I do if the CAT is clogged?? I dont know if the truck was reflashed by the dealer or not. I havent had any chips installed or hypertech that I know of. I do appreciate all your comments... Thanks

bang on the cat with a hammer, if you can hear stuff rattling, then its most likely bad. and to tell you the truth, thy are a piece of cake to replace (at least mine was) but can be a bit pricy. id go with summit, if you need one

but if you do replace the CAT remember to do the O2 sensor as well
