This is a simple poll. I want to know in what fashion you all count the gears on our transmission (and other trannies).

I've always said 4-speed automatic, but technically I agree with you Laramie... its really a 3-speed tranny with an OD/4th gear add-on unit.

3 + OD. 3rd gear is 1:1 ratio. OD is, well, overdrive at 1: .69

it should be 1: .80, then maybe it wouldn't be so bad in OD.

3-speed with overdrive. The tranny actually doesn't suck that much if you never use the overdrive.

I agree, I just push the O/D off button on my dash when I want to pass somebody instead of having to kick gas 3/4 of the way down to pass. At what speed approx. does the torque convertor lock up at?
