you should be able to get a decent motor for about 600$. there are two shops around here that sell motors for that price with a 30k mile warranty. there is a guy at my work that has bought 6 of them and they all still run great.

a rod knock will sound every revolution but a lifter will sound every second revolution. thats an easy way to narrow it down.

Here is a dumb thought ......... Maybe its a two part problem
Whats the chance the oil pressure gauge went bad and he's getting knock from a bad
intake plenum gasket?
Couldn't sleep, really tired, so just slap me if its stupid.

ive tried oil pump, filter, heavier oil, thinner oil, stp, cussing really loud. thats about it. i think today i will try mechanical gauge and see if mine is faulty and if so as far as the lifter noise im going to i think buy new lifters and roller rockers

good thought, i just assumed the op can tell the difference between piston slap and a rod knock.

when you changed your oil pump were there any metal shavings or copper coloring? excessive clearance's in the cam and/or crank piston bearings will cause oil pressure issues. This problem can also allow you to have oil pressure when cold but not hot at an idle and normal pressure at higher RPM.

Default Woo hoo!!!!!!

Finally figured out my oil pressure prob. And just my luck. I talked to my machinist that did my block work the c-rod bearings he sold me were mislabeled on the bearing themselves. and he had done the crank and c-rod turning and did all the measurements so i never paid any mind to them when i put it together. so today i ripped it apart in the truck and gauged them and sure n s*** they are not right size so as soon as i get new ones of the right size which i need .020 i will have my oil psi.

cool, at least you found the problem. you should probobly check the clearance again to make sure the slop didnt mess anything up.
