Default need 2 cats

the guy that does my exhaust says i need to cats too finish up , he says he needs 2 small cats and he went into the summit catalog and said to order 2 of these

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/DTC-79-400250/

and this is the pics of under the truck where he will be welding them into place
as you can see the drivers side from the longtubes wrap around the transfer case and the passanger side just goes stright to the cut out but i highlighted where he is welding them (as he says ) Name: trucks002-1.jpg

Yeah, don't do that. Go to a different mechanic if you have to. Putting a cat before that cut out will totally ruin the point of it.

Just put one in after it like dakota's ram said.

EDIT - If you get hung up with it cause of some legal bull**** make sure he puts the cats on with CLAMPS and not welds, that way you can take them off after inspection and just put some pipes in their place, then you'll have a couple brand new cats to clamp on whenever inspection time rolls around again.

the further away the cats are from the engine, the less effective they are.

If you must get cats, i would do kind of what Cereal Killer said to do, except i would get the guy to weld in flanges and make up some pipe blanks to replace the cats when you dont need them. that way you can just un-bolt and re-bolt, you wont have to deal with squished pipe from the clamps.

The Jegs link says it is legal up to 5.2L Hey lastrights, are you running a o2 sim? You should throw these puppies on http://www.car-sound.com/02product/universal/race.asp Then it wouldn't matter if you had two or not before the cutout. It says for off road use only... but how would anyone know, it looks like a legit cat. Haha, basically it looks like you can buy gutted cats directly from magnaflow lol

well like i originally had a highflow magnaflow si/so cat on there, and he took that off without saying anything and gave my truck back to me with no cats......

got there and took me in while my truck was still on the lift, and says i need 2 cats and thats where he said they would need to be (see pic)...

it just seems to be a pain i spent way too much on this system for it still not to be done i want it done i just been thinking of getting 2 cats taking off the cutout and muffler and run a x pipe with 2 cats no mufflers out the back

like i 1st bought her just did a cat back with cherrybomb extreme 60 for muffler 350 for installing

then bought the cat 80 for cat 150 to install

then cutout 300 for cutout 300 for installing

then bought headers 150 for longtubes 550 for installing no cats

so what now should i just get the 2 cats weld them in to get it done ??

or

take it get the x pipe on with 2 cats no mufflers

over in oregon if you take it into a mechanic and they noticed no cats they are required to put them in. even without your permission, just need to give notification.

It blows.
