I'm guessing here but it may have something to do with the others being heavier so maybe they didn't sit up as high hence the same length arms (Just a guess)

 

Never though of that but they still sit higher than 1500 and would think the control arms would be longer

 

It's not that the diesel/V10 2500 models sit higher than a stock 1500. It is that they have heavier duty springs because of the added weight those engines add to the front end and when you put those springs on a 1500 they end up raising it because there's not as much weight on them.

 

Actually 2500/3500s do sit 2" higher than than 1500s, but it's because the frame is 2" taller, hence same length control arms.

 

I did not know that the frame was higher I though it was all spring that is why I though the arms were longer

 

You could create the same effect by putting a 2" body lift on your truck.

 

OK, I must not have worded it right. My point is that the difference in height between a 1500 and a diesel/V10 2500 is not just because of the springs, but that when you put the heavier, taller springs on a 1500 you get a lift out of it. If you took the lighter springs from the V8 2500 and put them in a 1500 you would see little to no change. The reason the control arms are the same length is because the arc of suspension travel is nearly the same on all models.

 

So...would my 2WD benefit from some 2500 springs? I could buy the springs or a 2.5" spacer for the same price. So would I at least get a 2" lift out of the 2500 springs?

 

So could you use the 2500 leafs as well or are they to long? And would it give it a lift as well or keep it the same height

 

The 2500 leaf springs are a 1/2" wider and will not fit without some serious modification.
