The dodge tranny isnt that bad (mines got 140k on it). If your worried about it just had one of the heavy duty rebuild kits put in to beef it up....(any trans will fail if you abuse it)
Whats wrong with your tranny now? slippin? or wont shift?....did you even look into seeing if its a cheap repair?
there are sensors and solenoids that fail and cause the tranny to not function properly but are easy enough to repair......I know I repaired mine without ever even touching one before...try googling your symptoms.
and if you really feel the dodge is such crap maybe you should just trade it for a chevy?.....Fact is there are so many 2nd generation dodges still on the road of course there is going to be some negative common issues with them....the chevy trannies have their own set of flaws....(I have an old vette I know)
and does the turbo 350 even have OD...I dont think so....but you probably didnt even bother to think about that. Of course you may have lots of extra money to blow on gas everyday but if you are talking about doing all this to a 97 ram I doubt it...More than likely this it your first vehicle by the sound of things....And I'm really not trying to give you a hard time its just you'll find there's a big difference between thinking and talking Big and doing it....
Im just trying to find the cheapest way to do things. ive had two flushes and all the sensors replaced in february. this time i think its completely gone. it wont move in 1st 2nd drive reverse anything..its just reving up. and yea its my first truck but i dont treat it like hell like other teenagers

Flushing is the worst thing you can do to an older transmission. If you're looking for a cheap alternative, cobbling together a TH from a GM into your Dodge is not it. You'd be better off getting a 47RE from a diesel/V10 2500. Much more solid tranny, but as has been said, the 46RE can be built pretty strong by a good tranny mechanic.

aps makes a bulit prof trans.... also alot of trans guys can build you a great trans.. get a shift kit.... no a 47re will not work.... the cost of getting a 47 or a turbo350 to work is gonna be way more then the cost of a 46re rebuild.........
