Default 97 dodge transmission

I have a 97 dodge ram 1500 and the transmission went out on me a couple days ago. I have found a turbo 350 on craigslist but was wondering if the 350 bolts would match my truck bolts. I heard you have to get an adapter to make it fit. Im terrible at mechanic work so i need some help on what to do. thanks

uh yeah isnt that turbo 350 a gm transmission. you have a dodge..not going to work...(to make it work it will cost way more than a rebuilt one that will bolt up and plug in)...there are electrical sensors and such too in the tranny....
you need a 46re tranny

This right here is enough reason not to try what you're proposing.

yea they make them. i have a 700R4 in my 1977 Pontiac Can Am. Orginally came with a TH400. The 700 came outa a a chevy truck. Hence the use of an adapter to bolt it up to the motor

If you get it rebuilt right with the right parts you'll have the best piece of crap tranny in town.

its going to take a bit more than just an adapter....like I said earlier the dodge tranny is computer controlled and even if you found a tranny to work and had custom drive shaft and such made its going to cost more than its worth....especialy if its four wheel drive.
The dodge tranny isnt that bad (mines got 140k on it). If your worried about it just had one of the heavy duty rebuild kits put in to beef it up....(any trans will fail if you abuse it)
Whats wrong with your tranny now? slippin? or wont shift?....did you even look into seeing if its a cheap repair?
there are sensors and solenoids that fail and cause the tranny to not function properly but are easy enough to repair......I know I repaired mine without ever even touching one before...try googling your symptoms.
and if you really feel the dodge is such crap maybe you should just trade it for a chevy?.....Fact is there are so many 2nd generation dodges still on the road of course there is going to be some negative common issues with them....the chevy trannies have their own set of flaws....(I have an old vette I know)
and does the turbo 350 even have OD...I dont think so....but you probably didnt even bother to think about that. Of course you may have lots of extra money to blow on gas everyday but if you are talking about doing all this to a 97 ram I doubt it...More than likely this it your first vehicle by the sound of things....And I'm really not trying to give you a hard time its just you'll find there's a big difference between thinking and talking Big and doing it....
