This can sometimes also lead to more gaskets and the fact that they're are that many more opportunities for crud to get in your engine.

no i think im going to wait to install it until i get everything....even though seeing it everyday will be tempting.....i have a question for those with opinions on installing intake manifolds.....who likes to install the rubber gaskets on the front and rear of the manifold and who likes using silicone instead?

I have never had an issue when using the rubber gaskets the last two times I removed my intake. Never tried just silicone.

I use both actually. A small bead to press the rubber into. Let it setup prior to install. Might be overkill, but it does ensure a real good seal.

mikey, i'm telling you man, that intake is just going to give you trouble and it won't be worth your time to install it.
i'm willing to help you out. send it my way and i'll save you from the disappointment of it not being worth the time and money.

I heard various stories about the rubber end seals blowing out and leaking. I would go with a thick bead of black rtv. A couple bucks more to save you a headache. Thats great though, that your getting the airgap. I often daydream about installing one on mine.
