Default is this a good idea?

a 1994 reg. cab short bed 2wd with a 318. no rust for 400 bucks. Has a new tranny. Now the bad. the motor is locked up and the suspension will need a complete overhaul. oh and the paint is bout gone lol. And it has 217k miles. But i'm wanting to pull the motor anyway and put a 360 in it and make it a sport truck. would that be a good investment? or keep on a lookin

If you have to ask, then no.

to me it all depends, by sport with a 2wd are you talking about dropping it? if you are then you'll be doing suspension on anything you buy so if thats the case I wouldn't worry about the suspension that much.

400bucks isnt much. if you are looking for a good project to build on and do alot of work sounds like a good candidate.

I'd offer 200 and use as a parts truck.

if you plan on doing lots of mods you'll be redoing the rear-end anyways so if the truck is rust free for 400 you can't go wrong, If the trans has paperwork on the rebuild you may be able to sell it for more than the truck and get a good one!

i think any truck that runs and drives is worth a $1000.
however - the truck your talking about doesn't run, and its 2wd, so i don't think its worth much at all, unless you can use the transmission out of it.

if you think you can get it running and driving for less than another $600, then go for it. if you're just going to **** away a bunch of money that could be better spent on wine, women, and song - then no, don't do it.

If hes building a project truck I'm assuming hes not that worried about the stock motor.(as he stated)
