Not when braking. And not all the time. Just about 80% of the time when I am going slow I can hear what sounds like the brake indicator. Would this squeal even if I am not on the brakes?

how good are the pads? they havea wear clip in them so when th pads get low that piece rubs the rotor, and is how many people destroy their rotors, because they think its the breaks squeaking, when its the pin grinding on the rotor. so check out the pads

yes the indicator can squeal when you arent pressing the brakes.

also...two other things...

1. most economy brake pads are metallic and will squeal sometimes.

2. if the previous owner put economy to mid pads on it and didnt turn or replace the rotors...it could squeal.

if the sound goes away when you touch the brake pedal, its the pads on the rotors. Like AlabamaRam said, they can squeal on each other in certain conditions. Mine do it right after a big rainfall.
