if additives are so good...then why do the at fluid manufacturers not just put those ingredients in the fluid?

its like 5 different strengths of tylenol...hell, i dont want to get rid of half a headache...or wait 2 days to relieve it...i want the strongest first.

i was just reading an old post about lucas and MonteC (used to be the resident trans tech) said not to put that in the tranny with atf4, ever. and he also said that some shops charge more to rebuild the tranny if the lucas was used because it will varnish the internals.

Well, I ended up just putting in Valvoline Synthetic ATF+4. It took 2 quarts.

why dont they make cars and trucks out of stainless?
there are additives they do put in motor oils....most have their own formula.....that is one of the reasons all motor oils arent the same.... stuff like royal purple (rip off anyway) or valvoline high mileage have additives as well as all detergent oils...for example its suggested for old engines to use an oil with more zinc (something to do with cam wear if I remember correctly) as the oils designed for todays engines have different properties mainly because of additive formulas
I agree many are junk/snakeoil but some do have their place My vette used to burn oil....added the lucas stuff a year ago and the dipstick barely moves now...
I cant comment on the tranny stuff as it might screw with the clutches and stufff by effecting friction and I've no experience with it.
