Something weird with my truck and lack of something I should do before its in gear
I found out after I got the truck that I don't have to touch the break I can just go right in to any gear when ever where ever. Warmed up or cold makes no diff. Anyone else have this? Its kinda worrying know I can just sit there and grab the lever and it goes right into gear. I know my sister honda its a 97 I have to have my foot on the break to put it in gear. But an 01? It just goes right in!
Yes, I have the same thing. IIRC, it's a worn lock out or something along those lines. Not hurting anything, just don't leave a little kid in the truck or something that can pull it out of park while you aren't there.
i have a 99 and i can also do that. i bought mine after the tranny was replaced and a aftermarket cooler put in so i have always wondered if it came from when they replaced it? also i am curious is it standard procedure that when a aftermarket cooler is installed that they also still run through the stock cooler or did whoever do mine go above and beyond? cuz my lines run through both coolers.
Damn they must go quick I got my truck at 38k on it. lol.
Has nothing to do with the condition of the tranny. Our trucks have no shift interlock (Having to put the brake on to shift into gear) in the sterring column. I love having no SIL, makes it so much eaiser to put it in gear compared to my S-10.
^ Yes they did have one purpl. It was just weak. Mine is still there, but not near what they used to be. IIRC, shift locks were mandatory in 92 or 93.

Yeah, I know that. Just wanted to see how awake you are tonight!
I remember that my dad's old '86 Blazer didnt have one. My brother rolled it into a ditch one time because of that!
