does anyone know of any common issues or recalls with the 2nd gen rams esp the 99 1500 2wd 5.9

Pretty much everything lastrights said, but any recalls that there might have been should already have been done. (I believe you can find out which recalls apply to your specific truck through Chrysler)

I think every single one of those problems have a solution here on DF.

How about you click the little button at the top of the page that says "SEARCH" and type in a term you want to learn about. There are hundreds of threads covering each topic.

death flash is when dodge retards timing to compensate for there mistake on the plenum, so instead of fixing the plenum they retard timing which mean really bad performance and kills you MPG...

my truck had the death flash and i installed a superchips to overwrite dodge flash and it was a day and night in performance felt like a new truck too me , and if i could do it agian i would go sct tuner
