Default OD Switch

On my ram my OD off/on switch is on the gear shifter. well my switch went bad and didnt want to jack with replacing the whole gear shifter so i put in a toggle switch. well i have it hook up and it works just fine but i think i may have the wrong switch. i used just a common on/off switch. when the switch is in the off position u have to switch the switch to on then back to off to turn the OD off and do the same thing to turn it back on. does that mean i need an on/on switch?

thats cool. i didnt even know they made an on/on switch untill a buddy of mine put a TC lock up switch on his truck and they told him he needed an on/on switch. so since i have to flip it from on to off back to on it seems like i need an on/on switch.

not really they make a generic switch that operates in the same manor its like a horn button really....just the electrical state changing switches the statew of the od....
its a momentary switch but I cant recall the correct term for it....those cheap horn buttons or doorbell buttons should work too
radioshack will have one that works too..
to explain it better it only has to touch the wires together while your pushing the button together to change the state of the OD (or turn it on or off)

well the on/on switch looks just like any other toggle switch it just has 2 on positions instead of on/off

that switch will do the same thing depending on how its wired but its not really the way it was designed to work your changing the state twice with that switch when you go from one end to the other thats what does it.

get a switch like i mentioned above one that only carries a current momenarily while you have your finger on the button like a doorbell or horn button. they do make them that are little push button switches too radioshack used to carry ones that were little round red buttons the hole was the same size as a reguler toggle switch
