60 Front Compatibility
Does anyone know if a 60 front from a 2nd Gen Ram will swap into my '89? I know they're leaf spring setups on the newer ones but I don't know if the perches and shock mounts are the same, etc. I'm looking at one on craigslist right now and I want to know what I'm getting myself into. Thanks for any info, I have posted this in the 1st Gen section too.
Well that'd be a lot of work converting a second gen coil spring diff to leaf springs...I'd keep looking for the proper diff, 1st gen trucks are fairly interchangable.
At the risk of being yelled at, I'd also scope out Ramcharger Central. The site is very 1st gen friendly, and someone may have what you need.

you'd have to strip the axle of its coil buckets and put spring perches on it, not too hard if you do it right
if you can, find a 60 from a 2002 ram (no cad, which would be a pain in the *** getting that to work on a first gen, unless you used a Posi-Lock kit)

Yea the biggest issue is that the diff is on the driver's side in the 2nd gens... Good call on the Ramcharger site I know the older ones all had 60's. Thanks for the help, wish me luck.
