ya same with me lol, the distributor cap is a b!tch to get towhen you are changing out your wires, i used a step stool to reach at first then just got in and sat on the side, passenger side is a lot easier tho

So, it's really super easy to get at once you have done it a few times. The stock keg style intake is high so, it's almost impossible with the TB left on.
So, disconnect the neg cable, disconnect the three sensor harnesses at the TB, disconnect the vac line to the TB, disconnect the throttle cables at the TB first. Then, using a small screwdriver, pull the plastic tang out of the hole to release the front cable. The one in the rear uses two push style tangs on the side facing the front of the vehicle. Push it down on the top and up on the bottom to release it from the throttle plate. Slide the cable out towards the firewall.
Loosen the four fasteners that hold the TB onto the manifold. Remove the TB and set aside. Place a shop rag into the opening to prevent anything from falling into the intake.
Next, disconnect the purge solenoid valve. It is black, it is to the right side and has two vac lines and one harness. Remove those and slide the valve off the holder by rocking it while pulling up on it. To install it, simply spray some oil into the rubber sleeve and on the mount- it will slide right on.
You will now have open range to work in the rear of the engine. I have even changed them out without removing the TB when I first started out. With the hughes Intake, it sits lower and, I can leave the TB on and still get to it w/o a problem. I also relocated my x-over line to the front of the rails to allow even more room back there.
When reinstalling the TB, torque the fasteners to 19 ft pounds. It can also be done by hand, by feel too so long as it's evenly tightened all the way around and that there are no leaks.
You may also want to clean you TB while your at it. To do that, simply remove all the sensors and gasket from the TB and spray and brush it down using brake cleaner or, acetone, mineral spirits, denatured alcohol or turpentine. Brush it clean until all the black, sooty material is off 100%. Give it a final rinse, place a new gasket on there, put the sensors back on and install it onto the manifold and your good as new.
