Superchips 3185 is the way to go, and sorry to say but the jet chips are just little resistors.

but lots of people have this on the site, and they all seem to like it from what ive heard

So I'm guessing superchips is a popular brand cause
I've heard this name pop up countless times but can you tell me
how it handles if you have one?

Go with SCT over Superchips and a custom tune. They offer two packages on these: One is preset tunes and the other is support for mods over time / custom tuning.

Contact hemifever@aol.com He will set you up.

It's real easy. All you do is the following:

-Plug in the tool into the port under the dash

-The main menu will display

-It has a few modes but, the main display page is the one for tuning

-you scroll down to the tune you want to use e.g. 91 octane and follow the prompts. It will tell you when to turn on and turn off the ignition.

NOTE: Be sure to remove your fuel pump relay first prior to installing tunes. Once it has finished uploading / flashing the PCM, it will instruct you to turn off the key then back on and finally, back off and will display "success" if all went well.

On first run, it will copy your existing OEM tune so that you can always go back to stock if need be.

They offer different packages so, he will tell you what deals they have going on now. Select the one that best suits your needs.

If you need long term support because your planning on modding your engine over time, then there's a package for that but, it's more money of course. Here you will have the option to ask for tweaks and custom tunes when you need them. This is the package that I went with. And, if your planning on changing engines later on, that is also doable. This was one of the reasons I went with this package as later on, I am going to drop a modded 360 in my truck and, at that point in time, I will need a totally different tune.

If you just want a few preset tunes- choose the option for that. It is less money for that.

There's some literature on how to use it as well. I have some files and instructions and, I think I grabbed them off their website in fact.

Check them out at http://www.sctflash.com/index.php

Dump the chip, its about as useful as a TB spacer. I use a Superchips 3815 and love it. It is internet updateable for free from the Superchips site. Use caution when buying them used, like most tuners it reads from the truck it was initially installed on. Some will claim its "unlocked", it isn't. Fortunately, Superchips Tech Support is second to none. SCT and Hemifever are great guys. SCT's are more expensive, If I go more into mods on my engine I am looking into getting one.

SCT is widely regarded as the best tuner for these trucks, and they work on 96 and up. I'm pretty sure Superchips only covers from 98 up.

I'd hate to ask this, but have you used either of them personally?
