Don't do it.

First, 3.5 inches is the MAX you're going to get out of your steering before you have to start replacing parts.

Secondly, don't get a spacer bigger than 2.5 inches. Spacers offer you no axle articulation like springs do, and longer springs aren't that expensive. 3" lift springs can be had for about $120-175, or as an alternative, stock diesel coils will lift a 1500 2.5-3.5"

If you want to go higher that 3-3.5 you're going to need a new track bar, or at least drop brackets, and you're going to want to replace your pitman arm with a drop pitman arm. You'll want to get longer control arms too. Seeing as how you were looking at spacers I'm going to assume you want a lift on the cheap, and 3" is about the maximum you're going to go inexpensively.

Also, are you sure its 4"? 3"'s are quite common, as well as anything below. Tuff Country (or maybe Rough Country)sells a 5" spacer which they use for there cheep 5" kit.

Just throwing this out there, but did you measure it properly? A 3" coil spacer will actually measure 4" or even a little taller, due to the coil spring sitting inside the bottom of the spacer.

Another thing to consider is how gay a 5.5" coil spacer would look. Seriously. Think about it.

If you're after some lift on the cheap get a 3" body lift. If you still want some more lift on the cheap get a 2-3" suspension lift.

Now you're at 5-6" for like $500

That'll clear you 35-36" tires, which will cost you at least twice as much as the lift will.

Yeah, another good point to consider. 33" tires are the biggest tires you can run that will not make your truck suck bawls.

I have 33" tires and with 3.55 gears... I mean it's fine, but I'd like more ya know? Like either another 50hp, or some 4.10-4.56 gears.

With 35" tires you're truck will be almost totally useless if you don't re-gear to at least 4.10. In all reality 4.56 will bring it closest to stock, and 4.88 would be preferable. 4.88 is the lowest gear ratio available to the 9.25 rear axle all our 1500s possess. Which is fine because 35-36 inch tires are generally regarded as the biggest tires you want to run on stock axles.

While we have had guys run 38 inch tires on their stock axles and be fine, they are a minority. If you wheel your rig at all don't go bigger than 35-36s.
Unless you're into replacing axle shafts and universal joints. If you're going to put a locker in your front differential don't run bigger than 33s.
