there talking a whole lot about something they dont know about the only one that seems like he knows anything about how they would run is the one who owned a dodge and if I was to race a 5.7 with same mods it would probrably go back and forth, but I have raced a 1998 ford with the 5.4 and a 2004 ford with the 5.4 and beat them both by atleast my cab, I was in the bad lane and was on an 1/8 mile dragstrip and I was pulling on them

it all depends on how clean the engine is and everything, how well taken care of.
an obviuosly the mods.

but on that thread they've drifted into fords (JUNK!!!!)

personally with what ive done to my truck, and how well taken care of it was by previous owners, id say i could rip apart a 5.7. but it would have to be stock. only mods i have are 4.10 gears, 8.5mm MSD wires, Hughes Plenum, then ive replaced ALOT of external engine parts, driverterrain parts, and has all synthetic fluids. But i think i could take one.

Every race I have won I have been beat off the line(245 tires equalls tire spin) and caught up and kept pulling

I agree, but not because of spin, but complete lack of it. 285 tires/3:55 gears means no off line.

When I first got the truck, I used to meet this guy with a v-6 Tacoma about once a week on the drive home. And we would always do a light to light thing.
That guy always beat me off the line, even if I anticipated the light. It took me a half block to catch him, but I always blew past.
The Vortec might beat my truck, but not off road. He'd be snapping front CV joints on even the lightest hill climbs.

Weather we would win or not, I would rather have a good looking truck over a boring box like a Chevy.

I raced against a 2006 ford f-150 5.7L about 2 months ago and i stayed with him the whole time til about 60 then we let off. And he had stock size tires and i had 35s with stock gears.

i had little mods, just harlands and K&N

If i finish my build i could beat him no problem(hardlands, Superchips, fastmans, gears, intake manifold.) have them all except gears just need to install

The Fords never had a 5.7L engine. The largest they've offered in the F-150s for a while now has been the 5.4L V8. The 5.7L was the older Chevrolet engine (350ci, IIRC) that was eventually replaced in the very late 1990s by the 5.3L Vortec (and the higher up 6.0L in the 2500s).

Our trucks, if well taken care of and both vehicles being stock and equivalently equipped, could handily beat a 5.3L Vortec (Chevy), 5.7L Chevy, or 5.4L Ford. The Fords are the worst. I got up to a 2007 or 2008 at a light the other day. He beat me off the line, but I was only a hair behind him, caught him, passed him, and was still pulling away when I got to about 45-50 mph in the 35 mph zone, so I backed off.

Like others have said, it matters so much in the "little" things. Gears, tire sizes, etc.

However, try jumping a 6.0L gas V8 2500 Chevy, or a the newer 6.2L 1500 or 2500 Chevy. Those things are supposed to be the fastest stock trucks out there without going to a "specialty" truck like the Ford F-150 Lightning or the Dodge Ram SRT10.
