Default Debadge in progress

ok guys you talked me into it... and got me in the dog house...lol.

i started the debadge process saturday morning while my wife was away from the house. i knew if she "saw" me doing this she would freak out so i had to do it while she way away...lol.

when she returned home the truck still had most of the twosided tape from the trim on it and all of the emblems werent off yet. she says "it looks like a work truck...what are you thinking???". i just told her i was going to upgrade to the new trim and make it look better...maybe she will forget about it...wishful thinking, i know.

anyway...i think i have tried every chemical known to man that wont dissolve the paint and nothing seems to be working. i used a credit card (finally...a real use for it...lol) to scrape of some of it on the passenger door, but it took an hour to do 6 inches...WOW.

HELP... before my wife remembers.

^ Yup. You can pick one up at the parts store for cheap. Go real easy as the the friction will blister the paint if you aren't careful.

+1 thats a handy tool, I'm suprised goo remover didn't get it...worked for me.

You guys and your wives...sheesh! When have you seen a tricked out truck with rub strips. Work trucks have signs, dings, and rust except for the bosses truck.

I just popped a squat in a chair, got me a route 44 drink from sonic, and went to work with my hands...hahaha. When I got %99 of it off, I just went over the area with a sponge.

I would get that remover if I were you. It looks like you have a lot more of that trim residue than I did, and just taking off the bunk from "Ram 1500", "Hemi", the tailgate ram head, and "SLT" really, REALLY sucked. It literally took me probably 5 or 6 hours lol, but the results were great

The worst was that ram head since I took the backing off I had to remove like a 4x6 inch solid section of gunk lol. and it was more flat, since the backing for that emblem doesn't have the little grooves that the lettering does, so it was hard to get a grip on anything to yank off.

Oh and obv I put mine back on I was just taking them off to paint the chrome black, but I still had to remove all that crap so that I could glue them back on and not have to put it over the gunk.

Haha yeah. To be honest, I tried to heat the trim up to make it easier to get off, and it didnt really help at all...it just made it so hot that I couldn't peel it off by hand anymore and I had to wait lol. It made it a little more gummy I suppose, but it was easier when it was kind of old and "in chunks" cuz I could get larger sections off
