it shoots the one tire fire when i slinging the *** end to the drivers side so the diver side tire basically just sits there and the passenger side just spins like crazy

 

You realize that LSDs have clutches that wear out right? Just because it spins one wheel nowadays doesn't mean the entire rear axle is shot. Read through this thread...

You will have more luck going the other way your passenger side tire receives the power and the LSD is suppose to make the other one spin the same but after awhile it wears out, mine is the same way if I power brake I can get both spinning but if I just take off only one will spin

 

ya ive herd both, people have told me it has clutchs, and other people say thats a bunch off bs, and im thinkin thats all thats wrong with it couse they were slipping a little when i take off easy, but i put some additive in it and i havent noticed them slipping latley, any one know bout how much these clutchs cost? ill prolly pull my diff. cover off this weekend and see if i can tell any thing, its time for some fresh oil in it any ways

 

You can get replacement clutches for about $65, but you need some other specialty tools to do the job of replacing them. The thread I posted the link for explains in great detail how to replace them.

 

ya i took a look at ur link and that is a way bigger project than i want to take on my last truck had rear end problems i really dont want them on this truck ill prolly pay some one who nows what hes doing. o and it deffinetly wont be the guy that rebult the rear end in my last truck 8 trips back and he never could get it right

mine is being rebuilt right now....$300 in parts but more than just the clutches were bad...fyi my mechanic was told by the dealership there is two different models in the 2nd gens (after he returned the wrong one)...mine was the earlier one and is twice as much to rebuild....later ones were 170 bucks for parts apparently...

 

well its a common misconception that they are different thats why I cleared it up....came up on another thread yesterday too were someone refered to posi and LSD as being different...
