Default front mount hitch

hey guys... i now have my lifted ram, and the next savings thing i am going to buy will be a multi mount winch, the kinds u put in a hitch reciever... so i want to do bit of reasearch on the front mount recivers.. i found a few, and they are all rated for just 9K straight line pull. i dont know if thats the bolts they use or what, cause i know u can get a bolt on bumper to carry the warn 16.5, so the frame can handle it, or is it the way the hitch is made, just cant handle it ( in which case i will grind it down fresh off of the mock up from the truck and gusett the thing) ... and ideas on why just 9k which is about what the truck will wieght once im done between the motor and big tires, long arms, rhino lind alot of stuff... it will be up there. so i know ill need at least 12k pulling, but i would like more

p.s. anyone got a front mount, i want to see some pics of this thing on a truck and google, yahoo, and ask cant find any one a 2nd gen, i found all thirds

Ok really quick your truck weights is about the max for a warn 9.5 which is the biggest they make for the move the winch around the truck. You really need a 16k winch! http://www.pavementsucks.com/tech-article-21.html

this is true... thank u for that, but you can make a differant one.... some plate steel is all ya need, and a good knowledge of welders and some gusstes... but other then that, i want to keep the stock bumper the way it is, but i know i need a front winch... anyone seen one mounted behind the bumper? without pushing it out....

if you weren't wanting one soon then i'd show you what i'm going to do with pictures.

i have a junkyard hitch that i cut the ends off of so it is flat across the top.

i'm going to get the hole pattern off my crossmember then put those holes in the hitch and weld a 1/8" steel plate to the back of it so it will be bolted on the bottom and welded to the back of the cross member.
then my shackle will be sticking through the middle of the bumper. and maybe my front plate, i can't remember where it'll poke through exactly but it'll be nice having a receiver on the front.

Yes but if there is water involed you want to do a straight pull and get it out of there.

i love multi mounts, and sheriff.. please show me, i can wait to have the right thing... like i dont rush things when it come to recovery... lol, and i have heard of the tackle, and the double block ( ****** block).... they work good but the cable ussually cant handle it... lol, but ok, let see some pics.. i dont mind doing some climbing to get the pin in and out, or if it sticks out that much yea ill stll do it.. i mean, i ust need a front recovery point... or a stable point to pull people from is more like it

i feel the same way you do, thats why i plan on doing a front reciever. it'd be nice to have a front recovery point. my brush guard is bent on the bottom from where i hooked a chain to the front cross member the last time i got stuck.

i wouldn't be comfortable having a winch on the truck all the time. that would be mighty tempting to any crackheads that would happen to walk past my truck when its parked.
