Hey guys I'm looking to try run a higher viscosity oil in my 1998 Ram 1500. (318) Truck has 166,000 on it. What oils are you guys running? Any recommendations? I'm also not sure what oil type is in my truck now, just bought it.

Any help is appreciated.

Personally, I have over 170K on mine and am running Rotella 15W-40 since we buy it by the barrel. Have had no ill effects from using it. No loss in mileage or anything.

 

I run Mobil 1 Full Synthetic Extnded Performance 10w30 with a quart substituted by synthetic lucus oil stabilizer. and a Mobil 1 filter, truck has 195K and have 55 running oil PSI, and 45 at idle PSI, runs great

 

i run 15 40 or 10 40 whichever i can get for a better price at the time
