94 dodge ram 1500 360 V8 4x4. I changed my tranny filter and fluid about 5 months ago. Just today, when I'm stopped and step on the gas the engine revs nomal but the truck barely moves. I checked tranny fluid and it is dirty and above max fill line. ?? Do I need to replace filter again?? or are my clutch plates bad and need to rebuild the whole damn thing?? PLEASE HELP! any info. would be great THANKS

 

did you check it while the truck was running in neutral? You WILL NOT get a proper reading when in park. and overfill with cause various effects to shifting. Lastly, the fluid shouldnt be dirty when you changed it 5 months ago...how dirty are we talking?

 

Thanks for your reply. I did check fluid while truck was running in park. I will check again tomorrow while running in neutral. When I changed the filter a while back it was black. I have done A LOT of heavy towing in the past. Have you had Ram tranny work done before? What is my wallet gonna spit up$$$?

 

my wallet spit up $1450 for mine and that was with a HD torque convertor 22,000 BTU cooler, and a complete rebuild.

 

That's a decent price for that.

 

What kind of truck do you have yz ?
