Default EGR Delete

ok ive tried everything to get the egr pipe off the headers, it will not come off, i cut the pipe at the headers so theres maybe 1 1/2 inches of pipe off it. i have a new manifold so i dont have to worry aboout getting the other side out. ive bought a new pipe, but this one wont come out, so i want to block the passage of the egr pipe on the manifold. and plug up the one going to the headers. is this possible without it running rough?? or a CEL?

ive tried searching but i keep getting egr valve removal.

ok i found that you need a tuner to shut it down i guess, but im not removing the egr valve, im removing only the pipe, just blocking the two passages

i get a CEL evrery once in a while, but when i shut it off, and turn it on its gone, and the truck runs great, it doesnt lose power or anything when it comes on...in basic terms there is absolutly no difference. and th light wont come back for a while.i couldnt get the code read, but i believe its Insufficiant EGR flow, due to my egr pipe is cut, and i used muffler cement, but was still leaking a bit. But thanks for the info.

One more question though.

i cant get a socket in the bungs for the spark plugs. ive read the bungs have to be removed but i bent the cap out of them trying to pull them out. I have a haynes manual, but my g/f lost it,we are in the process of finding it.

for the heat shields take pb or sumthin and soak em, then take pliers and try to twist them out, if that dont work take a hose clamp and side it down as far as you can and tighten it and that should do the trick.....i wouldnt worry about putting them back in either

Yeah get rid of the heatshields.

My EGR is unhooked due to my non EGR M1. Just leave the control thingy hooked up and leave the vacuum lines hooked up to the valve or plug them if the valve is gone. I get the occaisoinal CEL but it seems to run fine.
