Default New Radiator please help

Thank you in advance for any help. I orderd a new radiator and got it. When I went to put it on it has 2 extra fittings that mine does not have. I called and they told me it was for an automatic and a manual? I have tried to upload pics not sure if they worked.

So just under the cap I have the hook up for the overflow/reserve tank and under that is a brass/gold threaded fitting that is not on my old one, on they same side at the bottom there is a smaller fitting just above the bottom hose fitting, it is also gold/brass that my old one did not have.

I told the manager if it does work I would apologize if it does not I would fly to california and beat the f@#$ out of the salesman that sold it to me.

If you could help thanks again I would like to get it done today but it is not looking good.

Thanks again,

Junie

lol that was probably not a smart thing to tell the manager It will likely come back to bite you in the *** as far as customer service from them... as far as the raditator it makes sense to me although I cant help you as far as what to do....I would just look for caps to seal off what your not going to use? giving the distributer a hard time because for your lack of knowledge on what to do with something is never a good idea or fair to the distributer...afterall they just sell parts they are not the mechanic or manufactuer.

Well, if you gave them NO info about your vehicle, like you have done here to us, I'm not surprised you got the wrong radiator!

If your truck is a manual tranny than don't worry about the two fittings. Coolant will not come out the holes it is for the hook up of the auto tranny lines to cool the fluid in the tranny. They make them that way so they will work for both manual and auto transmissions. The little tank for the auto tranny will not hurt a thing to be empty. Inatall it and run it. You have no worry's

Default you guys are funny

For your information I gave them all the info. 98 dodge ram 1500, manual, v8, 5.2 lit., vin #. Everything else fits fine. The manager I talked to today says it is for a manual and automatic.

The manager confimed the order info. I gave them all they needed and they admitted the fault. Mind you I'm not talking to a machanic, he told me from the specs that it would work for an automatic and manual.

If you can help great, if not maybe the few of you that think your so funny can take your show on the road, your wasting your talents.

Thanks,

Junie

Your the man, so what keeps the coolant from comimg out of these holes? I blew through them and air comes out both ends so I just figured the coolant would come out as well. I will try it in the morning and thank you for your help.

The two fittings you have are seperate from the coolant, one fitting is for the in and the other is the out for the tranny fluid only! It is a small tank just for the tranny fluid. It does not mix with the anti freeze in the radiator.

Junie, perhaps you should drop the attitude with people just trying to help. You posted a question in here, but since you didn't bother to tell us what kind of vehicle you have or to fill out your profile info with it, there's very little we could tell you. You got the kind of reaction you should have expected. Many in here are very helpful, but I don't know any that are clairvoyant. Keep that in mind the next time you want to ask a vague question.

As was told you by the radiator seller, the unit you have will work for both auto and manual tranny models. With the manual you would just ignore the extra fittings. Cap them if you want, but they only serve a purpose when used on an auto tranny model.
