High NOX Emissions
Hi, over the past couple months my 94 ram has been throwing a code 32, egr valve open/shorted, air/fuel mixture not changed during diagnostic test. Also, last week I got my truck emissions tested. It passed with HC being 0.23 with a standard of 2.4; CO being 4.05 with a standard of 25; but NOX 3.27 with a standard of 4. All the numbers are in grams per mile.
Do you think that the low CO and HC with the high NOX are related to the fault code? I am hoping that the egr is stuck closed, but how can I test the egr's functioning?

Do you know if the obdI rams had a knock sensor? I get the impression that they don't, so if the egr were stuck open, I would notice a knock because the computer will not compensate for it.
Don't know if they have a knock sensor. From what I have read on here the EGR valve is operated by a solenoid rather than vacuum. The solenoid can be tested by using jumper wires to see if it will move the pintle in the valve.
Do you have any suggestion on the best way to view the egr? It almost seems like the intake manifold would have to come off. It passed emissions so I am not too concerned, as long as it is not stuck open, which does not seem to be the case.
