Truck lost power while hauling uphill
He's talking about the intake manifold (we call it a kegger). to check the plenum gasket, pull the throttle body off and look into the manifold. If you see oil, you got a leak. Another way to check if the plenum is leaking is if your truck says dodge on it.
the plenum gasket keeps the oil in the lifter valley and out of the cylinders to be a little more specific.
when you all of a sudden lost power, could you bring the rpms over 2500-3000, or can you now?
if a big chunk of the catalyst material in the catalytic converter broke loose and plugged the exhaust then you would have similar issues - random misfire and running rough.

thanks for clearin that up better for me... yea i can still hammer on it a bit it just runs rough.. im about to go check all the plugs and wires individually right now.. i'll let everyone know how im makin out in a bit thanks
sound like what happen to me when i first got my truck the cat clog it self up and burnt all 8 plugs and cap and rotor. Pull the o2 senor out befor the cat and start the truck to see if that fix it.
If your cat is clogged you will lose power and it will burn up spark plugs. A clogged cat can be caused by a blown plenum gasket. My cat was bad when I bought the truck and #5 and #8 spark plugs had their electrodes burnt off, causing a lot of misfiring. Good luck.
^see how everyones questions and suggestions are coming together.
the plenum gasket is the most discussed topic, followed by a bad cat (which is screwed up by the bad plenum if it happens to not be one of the defect OEM cats) and upstream o2 sensor, then one of about 4 different components in the dana 44 axle.
edit- the 46re transmission is the most discussed topic, followed by the things above.
pull those plugs and let us know the condition.
smack the cat with a rubber mallet and listen for a rattle.
check the plug wires for cracks or melted spots.
