oh ye. it was the cat. i took the bolts of the exaust that connect to the pipe. 2 of them broke the other 2 came off.
and i pushed both pipes down a little. and voula.. runs like a dream. aside that is loud as hell. we don't do inspection here in MI so i might just run 2 pipes unless i can find a cheap cat to buy.

thanks guys for the help

Or you could goto autozone and get some flexible exhaust tubing and just put that there?

that melted piece is the evap purge solenoid.

i kinda figured it was the cat. if yours is one pipe in/one pipe out then you can get a universal magnaflow at summitracing.com

it is 2 pipe in and one pipe out. maybe i can cut the side of the cat and empty it then weld it.

i found one out of 2007 1500 ram for less then $100 . going to look at it. i am prety good in doing work like that. just finding the problem is always tricky

If you take your time, you should be able to break up the internals (honeycomb) of the clogged cat with a hammer and a 3/8 extension. basically hollow it out and then bolt it back up. will look stock and you don't need to buy anything.

I wonder if cooking it in a fire like they do to plugged up 2 cycle mufflers on golf carts and atv's/dirt bikes when they plug with sooty oil would clean them out?

if you knock it all out then you may want to think about a glass pack to cut down on the race car sound.

^awesome for showing it off at a car show but if you were to light the pipes on a state road then you'd be in hot water with any cops that might see it.
