I have a 160 stat in my Trans am and it gives me plenty of heat, even when its 15 degrees outside.

Failsafe all the way. 190*winter...180*summer......***andeveryone remember,..if you drive a 1977 Trans Am this winter...your "fail" SAFE with the 160. ha.. ha..haaa.

i drove mine to work last night with a new 195 t-stat in there and it'll come up to temp then after the stat opens, it'll stay pegged dead in the middle between the mark above 130º and 210º. hmm... with fresh coolant in there and a new stat, the heat will about blister my knuckles though.

That is ridiculous. These trucks can run with a 195 year round.

+1. my truck never over heated with a 195º thermostat the last few times i went to oklahoma, running 75-80 mph for 1/2 hour to an hour at a time in 110º heat. or when i was putting around oklahoma city in stop and go traffic for an hour or two.

I think the factory stat I removed said 192* on it.It was a long time ago.
