new member looking for brake lines
My dads 1997 Ram standard cab rear right brake line failed and im looking for a replacement part, its the one that goes from the rubber brake hose and back all along the frame, behind the gas tank. Thank you.
90% of the time it is the rubber brake line, it falls apart on the inside and collapses. Your local napa will have it and is pretty easy to install. If it is the metal brake line they also sell, but you will have to use a tool to bend it and shape it, little more difficult. You can find a video on youtube to show you how to do it.
Good luck,

All u need to do is go to your local parts store. You can either buy buy a roll of brake line and replace the lines completely front to back. Or you can buy a section of line big enough to replace the bad section but if you go this route you will need 4 fittings (probably 3/16) and 2 union joints for each section you replace. Dont buy the "compression union joints" they are not designed for the high pressures of the break systems. Just remember 2 things the more of the lines u replace the better (they all have the some amount of use on them and if one goes there are probably more places ready to go and secondly dont half @$$ brakes or brake lines because its not just your life that relies on your brakes it everyone else you pass on the road.
The brake line from the front to back on mine was about $27 from the dealer.
No bending required.
I did have to drop the tank though because there were 2 clips holding that and the fuel line that I couldn't get to.
When I inspected the routing of the line I chose to buy a complete assembly rather than try to make the 15 or so bends that twist in and out of the frame rail.
