Default Will I need new control arms?

Hi guys, I'm leveling out my truck as a christmas preasent to myself this month. I've got a 1500 2wd and it sits a little low in the front which bothers the living crap out of me. I want to get 2in spacers but I read in another thread that 1.5 is the most I can get without getting new control arms.

This is the thread:
https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...fter-pics.html

I've seen 2in spacers on the internet but nowhere does it say I need aftermarket control arms. It only says after 3in I'd need them. I pm'd the guy who made the thread but he hasn't been on in a while and I need to get the parts soon and since nobody asked questions about it in that thread I made this one to maybe get some more input. Thanks, Cameron

IIRC, the 2" spacers can be installed with no additional or new parts. I would recommend that you go over the front end real good and replace any other parts,(i.e. ball joints, tie rod ends, etc.) while installing it. Once installed, have it aligned.

I just took the spacers out of my truck yesterday. I had either 2.5 or 3 inch spacers. Do not use spacers. Do yourself a favor and avoid them in favor of a spindle lift.

The spacer lift screwed up all my suspension angles, and killed a set of ball joints. And remember, for every inch you lift at the the coil, you lose an inch of down travel. Essentially, speed bumps will become topping out disasters, as your suspension will be driving around at nearly full droop already.

You can put them in with out new controle arms but its not worth it they throw everything out and down the road you'll spend more in other parts to fix this.

The chances are your springs have sagged close to an inch since new so you really are just going a little over stock to begin with so your angles won't change that much to necessitate new arms.

err...I was thinking the same as sungod. Those springs are 10 years old and my truck has always sat level just up until about 2 years ago when i noticed they started to sag. I'll look into the spindles but I think if i remember correctly, the last time I looked for spindles they were all for 5" lifts and what not...I'm just lookin to get back to even, front and back.

Hey guys,..you can install up to and including a 3" lift or install a levelling kit without changing your control arms. *(if your trucks coil springs are old and worn,...I'd consider starting with those first..then re-check your "leveling requirements").

My 01 Coil springs have no sag at all in them. 110k miles and counting.

I installed Doetsch 3.5 inch lift spindles in my truck yesterday. An ever so slight pre-runner lean and I love it.

Yes you can, and it will destroy your suspension, it will ride terrible, and will be nothing but trouble in the not so long run.
