Default 46re shift kit & other questions

I'm planning to get some work done on the 46re. Planning a transgo shift kit at least. Possibly looking into changing the torque converter to one of better quality. What else should I do or look into if I'm gonna have it serviced?

I was planning to get a bigger pan. Aluminum one at least since the current one is starting to rust. The external transmission cooler what actually is it? Also where can I order the bands. I'm trying to get all the parts and I'm gonna take it to a trans shop a have them do it.

External Transmission cooler = a radiator for your transmission (easiest way to explain it)

Just ask the transmission shop to source the bands. It would be more convenient and chances are that you'll pay them the same price it would cost you to buy them, including the shipping.

one thing i found usefull... any trans cooler will work... i got mine of an F350 in a junk yard... its simple to bolt them in place, nd run two lines... add a little more fluid to your trans and your good... now i need to add the trans temp gauge... good way to keep an eye on it...

maybe a 3.8 ratio kick down lever for the band... I believe that the size just bigger than stock

i honestly don't think a extra tranny cooler is needed unless you happen to do more towing or offroading than usual. the stock one should be sufficient enough. just remember to take out the check valve.
