Default P0500 check engine code

Hi all,
My '99 1500 4x4 threw a P0500 code (vehicle speed sensor circuit 1). My speedometer doesn't work and the brake and ABS lights are on. Will replacing the speed sensor on top of the rear differential fix this? Or is something else wrong. Thanks.

Yes it should. Don't forget to clear the ECM too.
