There's a DIY thread on here on how to replace the governor solenoid.

after a test drive and a pressure test, an experienced shop knows EXACTLY what it needs. might be a couple of surprises that run the price up. for the most part - its sort of a standard rebuild kit.

Thanks for all the help guys. As soon as I started having trouble, I thought, if I could just get home and check the dodgeforums...

I know this may not be a big help. But I have a 5-45RFE out of a 04 1500. 2K on it befor it came out of the truck. I only wanted the Hemi and had to take both. Anyway I would take 1000 for it. I am in DFW.

that's a good question to ask the shop, and would be listed on a parts list or build sheet. on a dodge - they should be.

you might want to look/listen for the words - sonnax sure cure kit. dodge needs it.

+1 on replacing the freeze plugs on the back of the block and heads. they'll charge you a little extra for that. its worth it to do it now, rather than having to pull the trans at some later date.
