if the water pump pulley is wobbley, then the water pump is shot and will need replacement. the pump itself is about $65+ from your local parts stores. if you've got the time and money, its a good time to dig deeper and fix the plenum and replace timing chain.

does the radiator suck the coolant down when its warmed up? maybe the thermostat is stuck closed and the pressure is blowing out the gasket

I am not surprised your radiator isn't warming up with the ambient air temps you are having up there. sounds like a water pump replacement is for sure. If your leaking coolant than air is taking place of the lost coolant and that would cause the gauge to move when air passes. replace water pump and see.

head gasket maybe. is your oil level going down? maybe that is what is getting into your coolant. water in oil? another sure sign. thumping could be boiling coolant or pressurization from blown head gasket. you could also pull the spark plugs and if one is real clean/different that could point to head gasket also.

The best thing would be to pressure test you coolant system. It's a tool that you install instead of your radiator cap, you put the required air pressure and look for were your leak is. The tool can be rented, not hard to find. Good luck
