could be a bad heater core, clogged radiator, bad water pump, bad fan clutch, bad thermostat, or bad timing cover gasket...

All in all we need more info.

but now i just thought...you could have a bad headgasket, and coolants getting on the headers causing the steam but you also have a water pump leak making it look like the problem lies only in the front of the motor.

take a flashlight and try to pinpoint a leak on the heads, if no leaks thats a good sign.

To pinpoint the leak, you will need to:

a) completely fill the radiator
b) Let engine warm up (and t-stat open)
c) fill radiator some more (as t-stat opening will suck more water into engine)

With the radiator full and engine getting warm and under pressure you should be able to spot drips etc... You may have more than one.

ok i inspected all hoses and they were all good. I do though seem to leak engine coolant very fast and my leak does seem to be coming from the fan clutch/ water pump area. My radiator is still cold and did not warm up and the fan clutch looks a little wobbly when running. Should i just change the temp stat and get a new water pump or what?

Just my $0.02 so please understand just trying to help but I don't always word things the best but I learned this a while back on another project. You can spend as much as you want throwing ideas at and see if that fixes it or you can take it a "good" mechanic and just say what is wrong. Here it is $65 at most places then you don't have to guess or buy parts you don't need. Have them tell you what is wrong and then you can fix it yourself. Just hate to see you replace this and that only to find out it is something else.

My godfather has 2 sayings.
1. Only thing more expensive than getting a lawyer is not getting a lawyer

2. Only thing more expensive than fixing a problem is trying to fix a problem without being sure what the problem you are trying to fix is!!!

Never steered me wrong.
