Default RPM Gauge

my 97 5.9 360 doesn't have a Tach and i want one cause it's driving me nuts, question is how to hook one up, thanks for any help

run a wire to the coil, one to a ground, one to a power source, and one wire to illuminate it.....VERY easy job.


i think it gos like this on aftermarket tachs


Green Wire- Goes to coil
Red Wire- Power
Black Wire- Ground
White wire- Illumination

ok coil as in ignition coil? how do you wire that in,

Cut, splice, put some heat shrink tubing on the wire, solder the wires together, and place the heat shrink over the solder-ed area, then using hea, shrink the tubing!

i easy terms, use a 3 way wire adaptor to tap into the ignition coil wire. dont cut the wire just spread the insulation, tap into it with the connector, and get something over it that will protect it from heat lol

Remember ....... the green wire goes to th neg wire on the coil.

Soldering the connection is really the best way to go though.
