Leveling kit/add a leaf + lift ?
Right now I just have a 2" Hell Bent Steel Leveling kit on my truck. I want to end up with about 5" of lift. For a cheaper route would I run into any problems if I got an add a leaf then getting a 3" suspension lift?
The lift I was looking at was this.

I was asking a similar question, most people said to go ahead and get the 5" kit and would be better off. If you went with the 3" the make sure you get the correct control arms to get the axle back in the correct aligment with 5" of lift. Also what year is your truck and what size tires are you running with the spacer kit.

thers another thread about this going on right now call "my christmas gift" although its gotten pretty ugly....
if you dont do a lot of rock climbing or serious off roading the best thing to do would be a 4" body lift and leveling kit on top of that.....and type of suspension lift that lifts the front of the truck over 2"- 2 1/2" at the most will cause angles of the suspension geometry to be off and they will have more strain and wear faster....longer control arms (these also help in lifting as they keep the front axle from moving back closer to the rear of the front fender when lifted.) and swap bar drop brackets and such should ideally be used to save money on wear and tear in the long run....of course if you just want it to look big and dont care about how it rides or holds up you can cheat a little and compromise...
add a leafs will totally change the way your rear springs funtion and make the ride much stiffer and harder on bumps....but if you can live with that and dont overload your truck they will work fine (you still might want to get longer shocks to they dont top out.)
look at it this way...as far as the front when you lift the front 2 1/2 inches with a spacer its like you have already extended your suspension 2 1/2 inches of travel...you lost that much safe travel in the suspension...now you dont have much to play with without topping out shocks, bending and wearing joints and bushings out from extreme angles your that much likely to reach hitting a bumper or going over a mild obstacle...
