here's a decent multimeter for 26$ at walmart http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...ct_id=13092200

the 4 way tester is good to find out if your trailer connector is working but if you have a multimeter then it'll be easier to track down where the wire is broken. and you can check your ground between the trailer connector and the frame.

The 4 wire trailer light harness uses the yellow wire for left turn and stop and the green wire for right turn and stop. You need to connect to one of them. Also make sure you have a good ground for the light.

I put an led brake light on a trailer hitch wheel chair carrier that I fabricated. The light really works great. It illuminates better than the standard truck lights.

i can't believe what i read... wow. just to skip ahead of everyone. if the trailer light hook up (truck side) isn't working, get a simple replacement, http://www.amazon.com/1995-2003-Dako...3&sr=1-2-fkmr1, which is now $7. but there is $10 shippin. so bout $17, but its normally $20 plus $6 shipping, and at the local auto store (advanced auto parts, autozone) the same thing is $29.95. so might as well just buy it. i did. and if that doesnt work idk what to tell ya
