You made a good point and my truck is a 4x4
thanks

height aside the ram bumper is 500lb toung weight and a 5000lb trailer weight. i've pulled a 4900lb trailer with my bumper and its still there. (granted, it wasn't far)

head to the junk yard for a mopar part. my advice if your going to do that look for a 3/4 ton dodge. b.c they are better hitchs and bolt right up. (i just did it) it would be better for a 4x4 especially for height. plus if you get a camper later on they can do 10,000 tailer weight, with weight dist. hitch.

Lol pulling 4900 with a bumper would scare me. hell I tried to just put some tension on a tree so we could dig underneath and in the process tweaked my bumper. (I didn't have a hitch at the time, but I do now)

The bumper hitch is fine for short distance, light duty towing. If you plan to tow often or for long distances at highway speeds then get a receiver hitch. Having some moron cut you off and force an evasive maneuver with a bumper hitch can cause a wild ride that will often result in a twisted bumper and/or a flying jet ski when it separates from the hitch. Towing with a receiver hitch gives you a better chance of keeping the two together in the event of a mishap and will also be there if you find yourself in a situation where you have to tow something heavier. It makes a good attachment point when stuck offroad, as well.

also makes a handy step if you have a drop hitch (for me anyway, i don't usually have a ball in it, b/c i use it to tow wagons most of the time)

what are the differences between a class III and a class IV hitch. I know the weight differences, but have never seen them side by side. I will go salvage yard shopping and want to be able to recognize it.

Thnx
