Bummed

I recently bought a 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT 4x4,5.9 liter.I really love my truck,but 3 days ago the front trans. seal blew.It went with no warning,the truc k didnt leak a drop prior to that.Is this something that happens regularly? Did I make a mistake in my choice?
