Default Horn doesn't work on my 98 Ram

I'm new here, I have a 1998 Dodge Ram 2500 Sport, Intense Blue V8.
I have traced it up to the steering wheel. I can make it honk in the harness by grounding it out. My cruise works and the air bag light is not on. Is this a clock spring problem or a horn button problem? Any ideas or suggestions deeply appreciated. Thanks.

Gary

if it has the two buttons on both sides and neither one is working but you can ground it out more than likely it is not the buttons. I would check for a broke hot wire by the air bag, but i have been extremely cautioned not to unplug the airbag for you may deploy it upon reconnection. keep me posted

The horn button is molded in into the cover unlike the older ones that had a buttons on each side of the wheel. From what I have read you unhook the battery, let it set for 2-3 minutes to de-energize before unhooking the airbag.

You are in a dead area and you need to post in your era of year of make.

similar problem with my friends 96 caravan. cruise and the horn wont work, but the horn works when you lock it with the keyless and the panic button. so we took it to the local dealer and they susperct clockspring so they ordered one and are going to repair it when it comes in. so id guess it be the same

There was a HUGE recall on the Caravans clocksprings. Might want to check into that before paying!

I have the same truck as you...my horn doesn't work unless you push down very hard in the center of the steering wheel. Good Luck!
