Default Replacing Top "Dashboard" Cover

'97 1500

I don't know exactly what it's called but I'm going to call it the "top dashboard cover". It's what gets hit by all the sunlight through the windshield.

What does it take to replace it. Mine is all cracked up.

I have a Dodge Repair Manual but I don't find anythnin resembling this thing there.

I used this. It glues over the existing dash. It's easy and looks stock if you paint it.

Hammer...
My dash is completely caved in. Is the dash cover that you purchased thick enough to support itself? I still have some pieces of my caved in dash, but I would prefer not to do a frankenstein patch job before placing the cover on it.
Thanks

Mine was trashed too. It had a big crator over the steering wheel and was cracked everywhere. The cover is pretty sturdy. I didn't need to jigsaw puzzle it together either. On the contrary, before installing the cover, I bloke all of the loose pieces off of the existing dash.

If you would feel more comfortable replacing the dash, then go for it, but the cover is just an idea.

I tried to get mine off and their are bolts in crazy places under the dash that is almost impossible to get to unless you remove alot of stuff. Good luck.
